CHAMPAGNE ROTHIER

Story & Environment

It can’t be denied the champagne method is a demanding savoir-faire.

Champagne is not a standard product.

It is not made by any industrial mean but by the hard work of winemakers and their precise, rigorous and technical movements.

A traditional craftsmanship

« We do not inherit the earth from our parents, we borrow it from our children.” Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

Thus, if our great-grandfather progressively taught us how to manually disgorge, our children carry the torch in cellars and vineyards to save our terroir.

A continued presence in the vineyards, a constant attention to make sure everything is going well, are the essential steps of a well done job. In addition to this requirement established by our ancestors, there is the need to get back to a very controlled production, for an environmental compliance.

We have the High Environmental Value (HEV) certification and the Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne (SVC) certification since 2018. Getting this SVC certification means an official recognition of the environmental performance of Champagne winemakers.

By harvesting our soils, planting grass in our plots, reducing the use of phytosanitary products, especially by avoiding herbicides since 2021, we do our best to preserve the quality of our terroir.
